Lara Croft, una delle figure più iconiche del mondo dei videogiochi, è in procinto di ricevere un riconoscimento speciale in occasione dei Golden Joystick Awards 2016. Come saprete quest'anno ricorre il ventennale del franchise di Tomb Raider, celebrato con l'uscita sul mercato di Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration per PlayStation 4. La cercatrice di tesori verrà quindi inserita nella Hall of Fame della manifestazione, aperta ai titoli e ai personaggi più decisivi per l'evoluzione e la crescita dell'intero settore.
“Lara Croft è uno dei personaggi più iconici nel mondo del gaming, la rappresentante dell’esplosione PlayStation nella cultura mainstream di metà anni ’90, ed è davvero meritevole di un posto nella Hall of Fame”, ha commentato Dan Dawkins, Global Edition in Chief di GamesRadar+.
“Gli ultimi vent’anni hanno reso Lara un nome familiare e uno dei soggetti femminili più ispirati e influenti che sia mai stato creato. In queste due decadi il suo personaggio si è evoluto, fino al recente reboot, più in linea con le caratteristiche dei giocatori attuali. Vogliamo congratularci con gli studi che si sono occupati di Lara in questi vent’anni, per gli obiettivi raggiunti”.
I Golden Joystick Awards sono realizzati con la collaborazione di Bandai Namco, Green Man Gaming e Guinness World Records e con il supporto delle testate The Sun, Digital Spy e Absolute Radio.
La cerimonia avrà luogo il 18 novembre presso la O2 Arena di Londra.

Lara Croft To Be Entered Into Golden Joystick Hall of Fame
Lara Croft, one of the most iconic and recognizable characters in gaming and film, is to be bestowed the honor of being entered into the Golden Joystick Awards Hall Of Fame.
An honor reserved only for the true behemoths in the world of gaming, the Golden Joystick Hall of Fame is only open to those games and characters that have changed the face of gaming and become an absolute global phenomena. It is hard to argue that there is any one character who has done this more than Lara Croft.
2016 is the 20th anniversary of Tomb Raider, the game that catapulted Lara Croft to the iconic figure that she is today. One of the most revered gaming series ever, it has sold over 46 million copies and the brand has seen multiple spin offs including animation series, comics, worldwide blockbuster films (played by A list actors such as Angelina Jolie) and even two albums.
Since her first appearance in 1996 in the original Tomb Raider from Core Design, Lara Croft has revolutionized the way the gaming community perceives lead characters in video games. Lara is an intrepid, empowered adventurer who must rely on her skills and intelligence not only to unravel ancient mysteries but also to survive in the most treacherous environments.
On October 11, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics released the latest game in the critically acclaimed franchise, Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration. The most comprehensive version of the award-winning experience, includes Rise of the Tomb Raider, along with a host of completely new content such as the new story chapter “Blood Ties,” “Lara’s Nightmare” zombie combat mode, PlayStation VR support for “Blood Ties,” co-op Endurance gameplay, an “Extreme Survivor” difficulty, five classic Lara skins, and an outfit and weapon inspired by TR III. It also includes all of the previously released downloadable content such as the critically acclaimed “Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch,” “Cold Darkness Awakened,” 12 outfits, seven weapons, multiple Expedition Card packs, and more.
