Tomb Raider: Ben Wheatley alla regia del sequel in uscita nelle sale nel 2021Secondo quanto riportato da Deadline Ben Wheatley (Free Fire, High Rise: La Rivolta) è stato scelto dalla MGM per dirigere il sequel di Tomb Raider, film con Alicia Vikander ispirato all’omonimo videogioco.
La major ha anche fissato al 19 marzo 2021 l’uscita del film nelle sale, che vedrà il ritorno della Vikander nei panni dell’intrepida Lara Croft.
Amy Jump, che ha co-scritto diversi film insieme a Ben Wheatley, tra cui Free Fire, Kill Listn e High-Rise, si sta occupando della sceneggiatura, come già annunciato.
Il primo film è stato scritto da Geneva Robertson-Dworet e Alastair Siddons: diretto da Roar Uthaug, ha incassato 274 milioni di dollari in tutto il mondo, abbastanza da garantire un seguito.
La nuova pellicola verrà prodotta ancora una volta in collaborazione con la GK Films di Graham King. La produzione avrà inizio il prossimo anno.

Ben Wheatley Set To Direct Alicia Vikander In ‘Tomb Raider’ Sequel; MGM Sets Release DateEXCLUSIVE: Ben Wheatley has been set to direct MGM’s Tomb Raider sequel, with the studio setting a release date of March 19, 2021. Alicia Vikander is reprising her role as the treasure-hunting action heroine Lara Croft. Amy Jump is writing the sequel script and Graham King is producing through his GK Films banner, and Elizabeth Cantillon.
Wheatley directed the films Kill List and Free Fire, and he is in post production on Rebecca for Working Title Films.
Directed by Roar Uthaug, last year’s first film grossed $275 million worldwide. Production on the sequel will begin early next year.
